on the horizon, there is a new growing interest in Ike Turner. very few people even know where Tina got her name and career start from. Ike Turner was a rock & roll visionary and the divorced husband of Tina Turner. Ike's career has been iced over and buried because of his famous abuse toward Tina. During their marriage Ike was possessive, physically and sexually abusive. the nation and media sympathized with Tina, and (not to say that it was the cause of, but) Tina's career took off after a silence in the 70s, with new pop songs in the 80s. most people don't even know Tina Turner as Ana Mae, or even her career prior to the 80s. as a theorist, i believe this was due to the media covering up her past so as not to draw attention to her struggles with Ike, or draw attention to Ike in general. i've heard it said that Ike Turner is responsible for the birth of rock & roll. after hearing his album entitled "A Black Man's Soul", i can see why.
